Year 4 - Individualization and Exploration Phase
The fourth-year curriculum builds on the academic and clinical foundations student have established in years one through three and prepares students to make the transition to being physicians. The fourth-year curriculum is composed of 11 four-week blocks/periods. To meet requirements for graduation, students complete a four-week critical care selective, a four-week core sub-internship selective, a four-week classroom-based radiology course, a four-week classroom-based transition to residency course, 24 weeks of electives, and four weeks of flex. Of the 24 weeks of electives, no more than 12 weeks may be non-clinical.
Students complete graduation-requirement assessments tied to mission-aligned competencies (e.g., advocacy skills, value-based care skills, culturally responsive care, etc.) during this year.
