Longitudinal theme curriculua will provide developmentally appropriate instruction in core areas over the years to strengthen our students’ education.
Curricular Threads
Threads are two- to four-year longitudinal theme curricula required for all medical students, led by faculty known as thread directors. These threads are:
- Health Equity Social Justice Anti-Racism (HESJAR)
- Health Systems Sciences (HSS)
- Interprofessional Team Education (IPE)
- Public Health and Social Medicine
- Clinical Reasoning

Student Scholarly Activities and Research Curriculum
To advance the school's vision of preparing physicians who address health disparities and achieve health justice for patients in the Inland Empire and beyond , this curriculum will empower our students and graduates to engage in meaningful, mission-driven research.
Designated Emphasis Programs
Designated Emphasis Programs (DE) are optional three to four-year programs that allow medical students to explore specialized areas. DE programs are made up of electives as well as other non-requisite course requirements.

Innovations in Medical Education
Our curriculum will embrace three areas of medical education that have become areas of emphasis in recent years. These include:
Artificial Intelligence (AI)
As AI grows and develops, our students will develop their evidence-based medicine and clinical reasoning skills to more effectively use it as a tool to help patients.
Precision Education
We will provide our students with assessment data that will help them to more effectively develop their individualized learning plans.
Inquiry, Innovation, and Discovery
Students will receive the training necessary to take advantage of expanded student research opportunities. Students will participate in a health systems sciences project.
